It’s almost summer in Bel-Air! Season three of Bel-Air is just a few months away. This season will focus on Will Smith’s first official summer in Bel-Air after moving from Philadelphia in season one.
The new season will pick up about a year and a half after season two ended. Last season, we saw Will’s basketball journey, his love life, Carlton’s struggles, and Phil and Vivian’s career developments.
With summertime here, things will change a bit, but you can still look forward to the high-quality episodes that Bel-Air is known for. Here’s what you need to know for the upcoming season.
When will Bel-Air season 3 premiere?
“Bel-Air” season 2 premiered almost exactly a year after the first season. Despite some delays due to Hollywood strikes, Peacock has announced that season 3 will start on August 15, 2024. The new season will release weekly, beginning with three episodes at launch.
The renewal of “Bel-Air” for a third season was announced in March 2023. The show’s official X account posted a video of the cast holding up three fingers. The tweet read, “We’re halfway through the season and decided to bless the fans with some more good news! #BelAirPeacock is coming back for another season! Don’t call it a comeback because the kings (and queens) never left!”
Filming for season 3 started at the beginning of 2024. In late January, Coco Jones shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram Stories, showing her costume fitting for the new season. She wrote “Hilary loading” on the clip, which showed various shoes and costumes. Hilary’s outfits are a highlight of the series — can you imagine what she’ll wear in Paris with Lamarcus?

Bel-Air Season 3 Plot Updates
Thankfully, the official synopsis for the upcoming season is finally out. It says, “School’s out for the summer, and Will is making Bel-Air his own. Being part of the Banks family has given him a new outlook – it’s not just about wealth; it means Will now has the chance to explore other interests and dream bigger.
“As Will takes this exciting new direction, he teams up with Carlton (Olly Sholotan), who is eager to leave his addiction behind and fix his damaged reputation. While they have many exciting successes together, working as a team also brings out their different backgrounds and viewpoints. Can such a partnership work?
The synopsis also reveals that Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Phil (Adrian Holmes) will face “pressure at work and home” that will test their relationship, while Hilary’s (Coco Jones) romance with LaMarcus (Justin Cornwell) will face “some shocking hurdles.”
Meanwhile, “Ashley’s (Akira Akbar) views on romance will begin to develop as she matures the summer before starting high school, and Geoffrey’s (Jimmy Akingbola) past in London will come a bit too close for comfort.”
Carla Banks Waddles, the showrunner, also hinted at what’s to come by saying, “[It’s] summer school with no uniforms, just summer sizzle. [It will] explore questions like, how do you prove yourself in a world that sees you in limited ways? How do you push beyond your comfort zone to create new opportunities? How does a family rebuild broken trust?
